First rants on the WSOP...

Well kids---I've been silent for a few days...but now that the first 3 waves of play are done at the RIO, I have a few reactions.

** Lots of big names going out on 'day 1'. Doyle, Negreanu, Hellmuth, Jen Harman (she seemed to come in so strong, and got crippled with an absolutely crazy beat). The list goes on and on. Many of the favorites have already hit the road.

** Seems like this tournament has almost gotten too big for its britches. According to those in the room--there is no room to move, and the spectators are rude as can be. Maybe already in need of a new venue for 2006?

** 1100+ entrants from Poker Stars? Thats crazy. Congrats to them on getting so many people to pay in and play in their qualifiers...hope they didn't lose their shirt adding money to all those tourneys. Speaking of losing their shirt--it sounds like everywhere you turn on the floor you see a pokerstars shirt, jersey, hat, etc. Must look kind of funny.
