Back to Poker

It is long about time that I write again about my various poker exploits. I've been putting it off for months now. To be honest, they probably aren't terribly interesting to the average reader, but there is a therapeutic selfishness somewhere in here. I promise (as has been the case in the past) there will be plenty of times that I pen things that 'entertain'.

I've currently got a job where I work some weird hours. It is a 'corporate stiff' job, but since my company is HQ in India, I find myself up at all hours, and still slaving away during the regular US work day. This has successfully gobbled up most of any free time that may exist once you account for family and work. The good news is that the poker world on the intertubes is a 24x7 affair. Combine this with my HD DVR that records lots of televised poker (Poker After Dark has been particularly good in the past year, IMO), and Poker has become about the only hobby of mine that I can make any time for.

I have also kept up attempts to run as many 'home games' as possible. The wives in our neighborhood run a monthly Bunco night...so the husbands try to get together for poker as regularly as we can. It winds up being probably once every other month. We like to run it on a night we can buy a UFC fight too.

I've had so many poker related thoughts and opinions over the last many months that I was just too damned lazy to get penned down. That stops now. I'll spare writing very much where I re-has old things (WSOP 09, Isuldur1, Poker After Dark cash game(s), etc.). I'll try to keep it current. The common thread will be my personal poker playing. This blog will play host to my written goals about poker. The one that I'll put here now is that I want to play in a WSOP event during the 2011 series. That may seem like a long way off, but it with a new baby at home, I will not have a ton of time dedicated toward building a bankroll for a while.
